I HAVE RECENTLY PURCHASED A NICHOLSON 38 WHICH IS FITTED WITH A FURUNO1999 GPS.
HOW BEST CAN I CONNECT IT TO A NEC LAPTOP INTO WHICH I HAVE DOWNLOADED 'SEATRACK' SOFTWARE TO OPERATE C-MAP CHARTS?
YOUR HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED,
THANK

Hi, i hop you have solved you connection problem. I would be interested on your comments about the SEATRACK software. How are you getting on with it?

Slightly off the subject of this thread, but do you know if anyone has yet developed a GPS (sorry, GNSS!) card for laptops? It would seem to be the logical way to go, since many of the functions of the usual hand-held could be carried out by the laptop.

If you mean a plug-in card that is a GPS and provides GPS data direct to the laptop, they certainly exist. Can't swear as to the quality. Used on with my Toshiba before going to cable connection Magellan/Toshiba - changed because it stuck out a bit and didn't suit my layout. Toshiba runs OziExplorer charting software (scanned maps) which works fine for my purposes

I have now installed it and find it excellent to use, even for a non techi like me! I found them at the boatshow and they have given me personal support since any time i need it.
If you want to chat to someone at Seatrack call 07798871025 ask for Peter, he is extremely helpfull, tell him Mike Bennett recommended you.
Best of Luck
