gps to a dsc radio

not being an electronics wizard can anyone explain to me in simple terms how i can connect my garmin 182 plotter to my dsc radio in order to get an automatic position if I ever have to send a distress signal

DSC radios usually take the position in the form of what is called a NMEA0183 connection, which is a simple two wire interface. I don't know the Garmin 182 but you need to look for the NMEA0183 OUT positive and negative connections from the GPS and hook them up with the NMEA0183 IN connections on the DSC.

Done loads of Garmin stuff so it aint that complicated wires all colour coded white is ground cant remember which is pos out but make sure you set the correct output format in the setting menu.

If its the same as the 172 then

red = Power
Black = Ground = RXD -
Brown = Data Out = RXD +
White = Data In

There shouls be a diagram with the manual if you cant find it then you can download one in PDF format from the garmin site www.garmin.com
