GPS simulator software?

With most software GPS simulators you'll probably find you need TWO serial ports - one for the simulator to transmit to and one for the chart s/w to receive from. (Or two PCs, of course)

If your PC has two serial ports or if the simulator is 'smart' enough to create a virtual serial port then no problem. Otherwise you may need to get something like Franson GPSgate to provide the virtual ports.

Have a look around for a virtual com port driver. Some you have to buy but there are free ones around. This allows you to have "virtual" com port pairs which are connected internally. They exist only in the PC brain and allow software packages to run on the same PC and communicate as if they were talking down real com ports.
