Has a problem today lost the GPS Signal/Status Raymarine C80 switched the system OFF via the 3 second powerdown and rebooted still would not pick up a signal
Went via menu and system reset still no joy.
Unplugged and replug system still no joy repeated a few times
Then signal connection reconnected no direct pointer to the issue.
Once in harbour checked all electrical etc unplugged and checked GPS antenna all look good.
Checked the Fault page in the manual nothing concurred to fault

Anyone had similar issues, any advise appreciated

Do the GPS Antenna play up, system 4 years old

Thanks

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago with a set of RL70s. Everything pointed to needing a new mushroom, so I bought one and it made no difference. Anyway, I had enough one day and took the whole plotter out (kit everywhere) unplugged it and cleaned all the connections. Problem went away. So it was a loose or dirty plug at the back of the plotter for mine.

Alot of the fairline targas have the gps antenna mounted on the stainless steel tree on top of the arch. If this is the case then check of there is a 3 pin plug where the wires meet the top of the arch. Thease give many problems. Remove plug and solder wires directly together.

We have had some problems withour survey grade GPS systems on one boat in particular recently - Every now and again we would lose GPS signals then they would reappear as if by magic. I have investigated all sorts , wiring , interference, multipath etc etc. Then one lunchtime I was sitting on the back deck when a call went out that the GPS had gone again. When I looked on the roof there was a hoofing great seagull sitting on top of the antennae, as soon as it had been persuaded to move the signals came back again.

Lost our GPS signal last week when leaving Brixham to return home to Lymington. On arrival back at LYH checked all the obvious things before contacting local raymarine dealer who identified that the antenna had failed. They commented that this was the first on of this type to fail we have a 125? reference whereas the previous model 120? failed fairly often - their comments not mine. Nevertheless unit has been changed and now works but as we are 5 months out of warranty we're also light of £300 odd quid.

Well at least yours had failed! I had the 125 and was told that was whats wrong so bought and fitted a new one and it made no difference to the fault. As said before, mine was wiring loose or dirty at the back of the Disp.

We had a problem with Raymarine GPS. We used to always loose position in the solent outside newtown creek heading towards Southampton and could not get it back until we where in the HAmble. Going the other way was not a problem, If we sat outside newtown creek and went round in a circle you could watch the satellite strengths go up and down as we turned. Raymarine came to the boat and replaced the GPS with the new R125 (when it had just be launched) and still had the same problem. One of their guys just enquired if we had a TV aerial on - which we did. Turned this off and the fix came straight back. The problem was the TV aerial. This was positioned near to the GPS on the flybridge and when we lined up the two TV aerials on the Isle of Wight with the GPS aerial and then our TV aerial (TV aerial on port side of Radar arch) it knocked out the signal. The Raymarine guys did expalin what was going on and why it did this and that there where a few power boats in the solent suffering from this.

Ditto,
usually loose connections.
Happened to me 3 or 4 times.
Had the wires hard wired straight into the unit and they have been ok since (touch wood!)

Since my original post - Raymarine have agreed to replace the unit FOC as a gesture of Goodwill, many thanks for that and well done to Greenham Regis who negotiated this on our behalf.
