I'd appreciate some help with the following problem.

I have a hand-held GPS (Magellan 320) which I wish to connect to my Clipper GPS repeater. For those who don't know, the M320 comes with a connecter which goes to a NMEA-enabled repeater. The Output Standard for the repeater is NMEA 2.0 at 4800 baud.

Exam question - and it's not blindingly obvious from the handbook for the GPS - why can't the two talk to each other.

Any suggestions gratefully received!

NASA are VERY good

I take it - it is a Nasa Clipper repeater ....... call them they are very good - despite the 'budget' brand name.

I had a problem like this getting my garmin gps12 to talk to my radar, I was advised on here quite rightly to connect the nmea -ve on the radar to the gnd on the gps, I had tied the two grounds for the 12v already but not grounded the nmea.

It solved my problem, not sure if this is yours but just thought I would pass on what helped me.
