GPS question

Does anybody know if there is a reset for a magellan 120. When I turn it on the sat positions seem tobe overlapped on one half of the screen. I have cleered the memory and reinitialised it but still have the jummbled sats. Or is time to replace it, which would be a shame. It only happened arfter comeing back from the far east, worked fine over there, never had a knock, all nav screens seem perfect (except no info)

Are all of the sats on the east side of the screen? I have just put my Garmin on, and there are 7 sats to the east of north, and 3 to the west.

If it has come back from far east and was working there, it could simply be it hasn't worked out exactly where it is, thinks it is still in Far East and is using it's almanac to work out where the satellites are and why they are in wrong position.

If there is a function to tell it where it is, use that, or just leave it turned on somewhere where it has clear view of sky for 24 or more hours, which should allow it to work out where it is and possibly update almanac.

Also, adding to Brendan's post, you should find in the menu, and item for either autolocation, or to input the country you are now in - UK or England/Ireland/Scotland/Wales. The Garmin has this function, so I would expect you Magellan to also have it. This will make it download the almanac.

Have tried putting in the actule lat and long from another unit in same place with no change also have left on and gone off to work with no change, sat screen shows overlapping on right half of screen. sounds like it could be time for an up grade

The only other thing I can think of that would help cause a complete reset is to take the batteries out for a few days. Then the internal batteries that keep the waypoints and almanac in memory will deplete. Not sure how long this would take so probably take out and leave out for 2 weeks or more.
