Has anyone else noticed an unusually high level of GPS dropouts over the last few days?
First time I noticed anything was Sunday afternoon on the Medway. The Raymarine plotter (quite new) had been working fine all day, then suddenly reported lost satellite fix. I checked the satellite status screen and it was reporting good reception of several birds, but unable to get a position lock. This carried on for several minutes - up to ten - then it jumped back to life and worked fine till we tied up in the marina.
I was assuming that there was something intermittent in the GPS receiver (external to the plotter) and had decided to try to run some diagnostics next weekend, but I then got exactly the same symptoms on the in-car GPS (Garmin) the following day. Again, a reported loss of satellite reception lasting multiple minutes under an open sky. Satellite status screen showing several birds with good signal, but unable to calculate a locked fix.
