Had a pretty frustrating day trying to get the Lowrance 5150C to "talk" to the Navman 7100 VHF. Completely failed to get the VHF to display the Lat/Long

Anyone know which colour wires from the Plotter I should connect to which colour wires from the VHF?

I have three coming out of the plotter and a choice of seven going into the VHF....... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

All suggestions gratefully received.

According to the 5150c manual page 15 it is the yellow and shield you need as outputs. You must also enable and configure it in the communications port menu.

On the Navman site:

My instruction manual shows the GPS/DSC wiring differently than the labels on the actual wires.
A small amount of VHF 7100 installation manuals have a misprint in the wiring instructions. The manual lists GPS+ Green and GPS- Yellow. This is incorrect. It should read GPS+ Yellow and GPS- Green.
If you suspect that there is an error, use the actual labels on the VHF wiring harness. GPS + Yellow. GPS - Green.
As always, should you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact us.

So I would guess there is confusion but try:
1. 5150c shield to GPS- Green
2. 5150c Yellow to GPS+ Yellow

Sorry not played with either so I'm only going from manuals.

The data cable contains three wires. Com-1 uses the yellow wire to
transmit, the orange wire to receive and the shield wire for signal
ground.

A shield is normally an outer foil or braid. However if it was terminated with shrink sleeving someone could have made it look black. I would go the one that was not yellow or green! As I said, I have not got one in front of me.

I suggest you read pages 74 to 76:

http://www.lowrance.com/Manuals/Files/GlobalMap5150c_0152-221_121106.pdf

PS. Do you have 12/12 written on the side of your boat.
