advice needed, lost my garmin45 h/h unit. was wondering if it would be better to buy a garmin 128 fixed unit or go for a h/held similar to 45. any suggestions please.

I've just bought a garmin Etrex handheld. It tracks 12 satelites, runs for 22 hours on 2 AA bateries. Has option of NEMA data cable, Computer cable or external 12V power cable. Its waterproof and it floats so you can use it in the cockpit. Take it home and enter waypoints for your next trip. Costs £115
It also has a lanyard to tie it on.
I couldn't find a reasonably priced fixed unit to match it but others may be able to advise.
As per Twisted_ken said, it depends on what else you do. I do a lot of hiking and 4WDing so a handheld is far more sensible as I can't afford two units. As mentioned by one of the other replyees, I also take it to work so I can load/store all the waypoints I need for the coming weekends exploration from my PC.
