Hi, I'm hoping to be meeting my boat, being delivered from France to Corfu, in early July, hopefully. Looking for somewhere near the Marina, cheap and cheerful but safe, to stay in case I have to wait . . . any ideas anyone please. Jan

Another vote for telisilla. Book it through booking.com to get a good deal. We stayed for 2 nights at the end of last season and it cost us €80 for two nights for a family of 4. Even got poolside, front row table for 'Greek night' which was a blast!

I am in Gouvia Marina now. Although I love the Telesilla for food and a good night out and it is "Elvis Night" tomorrow, I would not stay there for several reasons.

Small rooms.

Noise from pool bar prohibits sleep until early hours.

Then traffic noise from dual carriageway in front and local street behind starts.

We have been using the very "Greek" hotel Pyrros next to the new hospital for many years. Speak to Anton and tell him that the Englishman who likes scrambled eggs sent you! The Poppy Star is good also.

Max.

Whilst there can be a little noise, occasionally from the Pool Bar, it does go quiet.
We preffer the main road side rooms, and no noise probs these days as all the windows have been re-sealed.
Although the rooms are on the small side, I have been in worse.
All in all though, what little issues there are, the atmosphere, the staff and the kind of people you meet at the 'Telasilla' more than make up for it. In fact IMO, it's one of the best Hotels I've ever stayed at...and I'll be there, next week.
