Anyone help out with the wind strength down the western end of the solent?

Braamble has just dropped to a gentle F3 but ChiMet is still up at 6&7 ... got racing at 14:00 ....

Brambles now shows 4. There was a dramatic fall at Chi and Brambles at about 11:00 am. Front going thro I think. Some really awful weather in North Hampshire shortly after but has now cleared from the south.

Thanks for the updates - not sure if we are racing (dinghies) or not ... but I'll have to go down to see - I'll probably pick up the Laser2k sails too - they're great fun in a F7 !! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

They binned it ...

Just as well really - the race was supposed to start at 13:10 ... and I thought it was at 14:00 /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Its been very unpredictable here (Cardiff)all week. Thursday I sailed in the bay for a few hours well reefed down and with about a force 5to6 and blue skies.I picked up the mooring stowed the sails etc then had to stay aboard for half an hour as a 50 knot squall went through with very violent gusts and torrential rain.Much too unpredictable to chance it out in the channel.

We down to the lifeboat station on Hayling once the racing was cancelled ... was fairly mild - and a few 29ers were playing just in the harbour, quickly got back to the car when the BIG BLACK CLOUD came across and headed off along the seafront road - there was a big squall at around 1/2 past 3 to 1/4 to 4 - Bramble and Chimet only registered 40ish knots during that one though....
