Got one!

Would be nice to see some Raggies caught for tacking up small rivers and fined for putting paddle boarders and canoeists in danger when they have perfectly good engines and could go straight. I think it is good to remember that the water is for all to use and enjoy ?

That's me off the hook then!

(re your last point, that the water's for everyone, I agree fully. I hope that nobody here is gleeful that a jetskier has been prosecuted, merely that a water-user who was flouting the regs has been prosecuted)

Trying to construct an equivalence between sailors tacking and jet skis doing 30 knots is not only perverse but daft. Boats have been tacking up rivers since time immemorial and have a right to do so. A tacking boat does not disturb anyone or represent a hazard to any craft. If a paddleboarder or canoeist wishes to go out on the water, as they are free to, then it is their obligation to keep clear of sailing craft in most circumstances, and there is invariably plenty of time for them to do so. I have never had an untoward encounter with either of these groups, but although they are essentially innocuous, there has been increasing concern about their intrusion into wildlife habitats which their small boats make accessible to them.

Some very outdated views there. Also I think you need to consider that humans are wildlife indigenous to these islands and I would think have a right to go where they wish. Or do birds have priority in your world.

Some people alas are a little obsessed about wildlife and feel that people should stand behind them....... Interesting yet odd concept
