Hi all,
Over the last 2 months we've been looking at all sorts of boats, but mainly cuddies in the 19-22ft range up to about £12000 advertised price.
Now, a couple of brokers we've been in contact with have been good - but the vast majority just don't seem in the least bit interested in selling us their wares at all.
I have lost count of the number of e-mail enquiries sent that just didn't get any kind of reply at all - sometimes even sending 2 or 3 get nothing.
Other times, the reply is perfunctory - one broker, in response to a lengthy e-mail about the boat and it's inventory, condition and so forth simply replied "The owner is open to offers. If you would like to submit an offer we'd be happy to pass it on". As I thought it was a cr*p reply I offered £3000 for a boat advertised for £12000 - now, I expected a response of "don't be silly" or "I don't think I'll put that offer forward sir" - but nothing... not a reply nothing.....
So I thought, hmm, perhaps he just thought I was a messer. So I have another e-mail address I don't use much. I e-mailed the same broker with a few questions - got the "The owner is open to offers. If you would like to submit an offer we'd be happy to pass it on" response again (auto-reply?) so I offered £5 below the full asking price.... still waiting for an answer......
SO - If you have a cuddy cabin boat for sale, get yourself a hotmail or gmail e-mail address, mail the broker, ask some questions and see whether these lazy b****** can be bothered to sell your boat for you, or if they are too lazy to do ANYTHING to earn their commission - because it might have been one of your boats that I was enquiring about!
