Got a hole in my hull, dear forum, dear forum

Just primed my bottom for anti-fouling. When I took off the masking tape, I uncovered a hole (12mm x 4mm) on the surface. To me it looks as if there was a bubble in the resin during manufacture which has now decided to show itself. There is no indication of a repair but I can see the fibreglass matting underneath.
As it is above the waterline, can I just fill it and use it as an excuse to re-paint the hull.

Thanks Colin, there was no one in the yard today to advise me. Having heard of osmosis being a blistering of the gelcoat but never having seen it, I was just a bit concerned.

Fill it with gel coat, saves painting the whole thing, or is it painted already. I've had some success in the past with gel repairs, you can hardly see them now.

Do tell the brand name of the masking tape? Just so's we can avoid it.......got one helluva stick to it!!

Prep it properly, use a good quality paint, international 709 gives a good durable finish, and it will last for years, pending you driving of course.

Osmosis blisters would be below the water line and really are blisters, uisually in clusters rahter than just one. . If you pop 'em they have a foul smelling watery fluid inside. Sounds like your hole is a gelcoat void.....just fill it and get on with the paint job.......!
