I have just had my renewal notice, up 6% on last year. Bearing in mind that it is now owned by Premier with all the little extras that brings I don't think that is exorbitant. Everyone else seems to be moaning like hell over marina costs, can't say that I am really.

acxshually, if you pay early (1st Feb) its 'only' a 3% increase ... i'd be giving full marks to Peter Wright & co (manager at C&N) as this is 2nd year that rise has been within spitting distance of rpi ...

Absolutely and whats more Peter and his blokes are all extremely civilised and helpful compared with most places (but not all) we visit.

When did premier take over "Campers? I'm a bertholder at Chichester - also a premier marina - and have heard nothing about this.

The Chichester charges have risen by 5% for 2004...which is not bad I suppose, but after years of well above inflation rises it's not before time that thay were more realistic. Perhaps there's a recession on the horizon.

Interestingly the 5% berthing rise was less than the 8% rise in my yacht club fees.....but that's another story.

would you know what 'Premier Advantages' actually gives you (if you've availed yourself of any of them, that is):

10% off boatyard services operated by Premier. where are Premier's boatyard services and does that include any chargable item?

Free storage ashore. (restricted to 8 weeks at Brighton, Falmouth and Southsea). Would that cover any time of the year and cf costs above will lift-out costs be -10%?

Free vistors nights. 12 nights per year free at any other Premier marina but limited to 2 nights per stay. sounds ok?

Marine Emergency Support. 24/7 and what does 'emergency help' cover?

A man in a nice uniform who calls you "sir". Probably not worth the almost certain price hikes of coming years!! IMHO as a past Premier bertholder!

that's identical to the blurb ...

the boatyard service discount isn't a lot use to me, personally, if the only boatyard operated by them (a proper boatyard would be capable of eg service & repairs) is umpteen miles away .. see what i'm getting at?

I have found Chi marina very helpful. I had an overheating engine when I left my berth,and one of the marina guys towed my boat back to its berth, after changing the impeller for me, and then waited to see if the engine was discharging cooling water. I didn't tell him that I had forgotten to turn on the cooling water.
Had several free nights in Beaucette marina, and the money we saved was enough to hire a car (they phoned up for me) to tour the island. And also the staff at Chi are very helpful if you want to get out a bit ahead of the crowd. But I didn't say that! They also help me with awkward things that aren't suitable for me to lift, like spare fuel tanks, and gas bottles. I like it at Chichester marina

Marine emergency support apparently covers; Crisis co-ordination, help getting vessel and owner home, cost of marina charges in case of illness or serious accident, legal assistance abroad, £200 contribution to engineers if breakdown away from home. My lift out at another marina is discounted yes. Plus, you get a certain amount of valet moves per year. (Boat placed outside lock for you on a Friday, or a fuel up whilst you are not there etc). Also 2 nights for price of 1 at Dieppe, St Valery en Caux, Fecamp and Le Havre.

Do I get the job?
