I did on my Pacific crossing but mostly I swum to clean them off- when at anchor . If you read Moitessier you'll see he was troubled with them and dived to clean them off but sometimes when he was on passage although becalmed. After I arrived in Hiva Oa and was anchored in the bay there it rained a lot for a few days and the bay was filled with muddy brown run off from the river. That killed them off, I was relieved about that because the pilot advised not to swim in that bay because of the danger of sharks.
