Hi

I have what I assume is the original mast/boom on my Golden Hind31 . I am trying to find a pin for the gooseneck that has a reefing horn or eyelets for slab reefing - I dont want to use the roller reefing system. I cant seem to find anything...probably a long shot... its 12mm in diameter - its 75mm long but would need to be longer for the horn attachment. If i need to have it made any suggestions where?

You might be able to use a 316 M12 bolt which is long enough to be un-threaded for the load bearing part and use a nylock nut to secure. Available up to 180mm in length which would only be partly threaded. Could be cut to size and a thread cut on the end if required. This is what holds my boom/gooseneck and reefing horns together.
STAINLESS STEEL A4 316 | HEX HEAD BOLTS.

This is all I have. When I put a reef in I just pass a lashing through the reef tack grommet and around the boom. Very simple.

Hovwever, I quite like this idea that I have just seen on the UK Sailmakers' website and might adopt it:

Thats what I currently have rigged up, I set up a dyneema line with a stainless steel loop which connects to the middle of mast cleats on either side so one reef is SB and the other port, and each cringle has a dyneema line with a snap shackle on it to connect to a steel loop that comes from the cleat . Perhaps I should keep that?

Well yes. I would but why don't you like it?

This is the fitting
That's almost identical to what I had on my Twister. Then one fine windy day the boom snapped in two and I couldn't get it repaired so I had a modern boom fitted, as you can see.

By the way, mine snapped due to unseen corrosion under the attachment for the kicking strap. Worth checking!

I would have thought that would be able to get a Seldon pin including hooks part no 536-101-01 or 536-102-01 or just the hooks 507 -651 or 536-113-01

I used something like this

plus a long bolt that went through the hole. Worked fine.
