\'Goop\' for steel bilges?

Hi
whats the best 'goop' to use in the deep/ inaccessable parts of a steel hull as a means of long term presevation? Not too worried about a 'good' finish and or it really forming a hard surface as presevation is the main focus !
All suggestions welcomed please

Any Marine, ie big ship, underwater anticorrosive, vinyl tar is a good one, however anything that stays soft could harbour moisture and the rust bug will continue to eat away below the coating!

I am taking my steel van de stadt out the water here in Las Palmas at the end of January, for some preventative maintenance in the bilges. My anchor chain locker has been leaking and there is some evidence of rust, which needs chipping and grinding away. There is a British engineer here with a 40' steel boat he calls "workshop" who swears by the liberal use of EP (extreme pressure) gear oil. His boat is some 10 years old and the inside which I have looked at is bare finished steel covered in this EP oil. It dries nicely so you can wipe your hands across and not get covered and he says it also leaches everywhere providing full long term protection.
Thats what I'm going to try. It looks as though it could be ideal for the bilges. Almost a fit and forget (not quite I suppose) long term protection.
