Has the old Conway ship a "hog" (reverse sheer) or a broken back?

Or simply an optical illusion?

She grounded on the Platters & they couldn't get her off. Her back broke as the tide went out & there was nothing to support her stern. She was around 100 years old and in rather poor condition - hence the trip back to the Mersey for a refit.

The Admiralty just left her there. Eventually, Caernarfon Harbour Trust decided to dismantle her as she was a hazard to navigation & she caught fire during the work. I believe there are still remnants to be seen at low water springs. Best viewpoint is probably from the suspension bridge.

Thanks Searush.

When you mentioned the fire part, it reminded me about the old Cutty Sark in Greenwich. I was onboard in 2004, and there was a fire a couple of years later.

I viewed Her from the Menai Bridge the day after She foundered.
It was a day I have never forgotten
My Uncle Tom had a 1936 Armstrong Siddley.
With pre select gears and a 'freewheel' knob!
Twas the furthest I had travelled (from Rhyl) in those days!

Never thought that years later I would 'berth' on said rocks one or twice!!!!
