How many times do you think per day that someone will say 'oh we're going to Barbados'? It may be a lot!!

Have a safe and enjoyable trip. (y) (y)

The tradewinds seem to have kicked in finally here, and they are blowing a good 20 knots, so hopefully you should not have to burn much of that 3/4 tank of diesel on the way across.
I am guessing 20 days for the passage, maybe even a bit less if you have good winds the whole way?

Serendipity is now underway, heading south down the east side of Gran Canaria, doing 5 knots with 7 knots of wind out of the east - flying a kite perhaps?

Best parting shot I had when leaving C.Verdes years and years ago ‘’good luck , don’t do anything silly and here’s to the other side !”

Fab photo , best wishes , Tim

We’re off from Las Palmas heading toward Barbados.
good job we’ve got 3/4 tank of diesel, it’s a major festival and even the Marina fuel dock is closed.

Mr Waters I think this was::

Goodbye cruel world
I'm leaving you today
Goodbye
Goodbye
Goodbye
Goodbye all you people
There's nothing you can say
To make me change my mind
Goodbye

Don’t think Messrs Gilmour or Wright were involved.

Have a fab trip.

I was estimating perhaps 20 days for Serendipity to cross the Atlantic to Barbados, which would have them arriving on the 26th - but I see them now on Marinetraffic , about 15 miles north east of Barbados, sailing at 5 knots.

So they should be arriving off Port St Charles (where the Customs station is) on the north-west side of the island at first light or thereabouts.
I shall look forward to reading (or hearing in person over a beer or two :) ) John's account of their passage and experiences along the way.

Arrived Barbados and anchored off Port St Charles this morning at 0600. 17 days 20 hours from Las Palmas Gran Canaria. Best days run was 202 miles. Twin genoas poled out , hydrovane steering the whole way. We found creaks in the old girl we’d never heard before. Generator failed with one day to go (PMG failure.). Few bits of chafe. But 2 on 8 off with two one hour dogs made for a very easy passage.
