Goodbye 2017 Final RCC Xmas run.

Last trip of the year with short run up to Allington Lock and grub in the Village Hotel.
Gave up on trying to organise anything involving the chaotic and down at heel Malta Inn .
All organised by Murv of this parish.....and his good lady !
A somewhat damp start and far too many Turbo 36s but everything was saved by the attendance of a sublime Princess 36 with its outstanding skipper and a glorious, if cold, return back on Sunday.
Berths with power all arrange courtesy of the EA.Some of us managed to use up our entire allotted power over night.

Apologies to Ian and Debbie who did attend the event but managed to erase pix of your boat.
Plus a couple of pix taken 6 hours apart.

Hmm, similar to what I was going to put, but I seem to remember it was more of a grace of Turbo 36's being somewhat spoiled by a Princess in the middle. Still... wonderful pictures, love the contrast between HW & LW!

The morning of the trip looked promising

Beautifully calm, but chilly on the trip up to non-tidal

The sort of thing that can snag the unwary if you stray too close to the wrong bank when the water is higher!

There is actually another T36 there, obviously ashamed of being seen with a Princess and trying to hide from the camera

Sadly the rain started soon after arrival, but cleared in the evening

Lots of ice around the next morning, but sunny and clear.
OG kindly took the lead on the return leg as we set off on the ebb, which was a first for me and you have to be a bit careful with timing on this run with draft/air draft issues.
This is OG whom I begrudgingly admit is using some considerable skill to line his boat up in reverse to see if it will fit through the problem bridge, hence him facing the wrong way. It wouldn't, but a bit of modification to the folding radar arch and he was through. Apologies to the ozone layer for all the smoke...
Note the onlookers on the bridge, who, sensing impending disaster, were eagerly awaiting for events to unfold. They trudged off somewhat disappointed shortly after.

And an uneventful run back

Well impressed with your pictures.... only a T36 owner could manage those.
Recovered from the Turbo 36 compulsory hypothermia yet ?
So warm in our cosy toasty downstairs saloon, had to open a window.

All is revealed.
Back down to boat at some point,as left radar arch down after its unplanned drop at Aylesford.
Tide was a big one and did seem reluctant to go out, usually would have been plenty of room under bridge exiting lock an hour after HW,
The good bit is having the tide with you on return rather than going against it.
