Got kicked out of our berth at Shotley this weekend to make way for their boat show. Figured we didn't need a marina anyway, so trundled off down to Brightlingsea on Friday evening - water taxi running and whilst price was a little higher than previously - the rumoured king's ransom wasn't demanded. The HM, in the best traditions of the port, greeted us in his boat and showed us to a berth. Visited a curry house of some renown and consumed eastern fare and beer.
Saturday: and a bouncy sail out of the Colne and then a right turn into the Blackwater - picked up the visitors' buoy at MSC.
Sunday - back to Shotley on a conveniently timed ebb; arriving in the harbour as the last of the wind faded and in the evening sunshine. To crown it all, whatever gin palace had been in our berth had already legged it, so we were able to put her back in the right place.
Chilly all weekend but we were sailing. What's not to like?
Anyone else get out?
