Good value 42ft Flybridge anyone? - Sealine 420

If mechanically OK that is a lot of boat for not a lot, though will need some cash to spend on it.

A T47 for under £70k. If all mechanics OK after a £5-£10k service and minor repair an extra £20k retrim and off you go.......

Some prices in the Med are just crazy at present!

Freudian slip...

"Fear price for the conditions of the vessel."

Would a re-trim really cost £20k? Again replace, wrap or paint the birdseye maple, the other woodwork is later Sealine fare and looks fine.

Could be a very nice boat for someone.

That is plus VAT, it's been sat on the hard for about three years and has zero service history and very little in the way of ownership title paperwork passed the Italian blue book.

The engines may be ok they may not but the clincher is you have to move it the moment you buy it. So you either need to find a yard In Italy or drag it home.

If it were local and you could work on it it would be worth a punt but logistically it was a nightmare and mechanically a big risk.
 
Both worth a look but neither are a given bargain, probably no worse than in the UK for boats being advertised as what they aren't but at least if you are in the UK the viewing just costs fuel.

Bargains are to be had in the Med at the moment but just because it's cheap doesn't make it a bargain.

As someone who has done it I would say tread carefully and be prepared to wave goodbye to large chunks of money.

You do have a few more pennies to spend if you live or boat in the med as you don't have to factor in the run to the UK
 
Ignoring the drivetrain, it looks as if nobody has ever polished that T47: the exterior looks like it has been left in the desert for a few years.
Changing the dodgy fabrics on the 420, which looks to be a running boat, would be a lot easier.

Thanks Jez, that is where I got to on it as well. Obviously I do not need to pay VAT so that makes it far more attractive, plus I can get equipment etc VAT free. I was just going to get it towed to another yard for full turnaround then sail her home one day. At that price I would have £70k to play with and if mechanics OK, with just minor servicing and repairs it would end up top notch. But £70k could disappear fast with all the mechanicals...
