I have just started sailing my 25' Vertue and need to scrub the hull and antifoul.

She is moored on the River Frome, Poole. The beach legs were left behind in Plymouth.

I want to sail to Plymouth, pick up the legs (which are wooden, fixed length) and beach here somewhere on the return journey.

I'd like to know some good places to beach.

Thanks

Choice is limited east of Portland, partly because of the limited tidal range. Lyme regis inner harbour is a good place, but congested so you will probably need to get harbour masters permission.

Look here on the River Yealm, opposite Madge Point:

You see it says "Scrubbing posts". These are long gone but the beach is nice and pretty firm, gently sloping and not subject to a great cross tide. Better still there is usually little passing traffic.
Have a word with the Harbourmaster to check there are no remains of the posts, probably better to say you are going in for an underwater inspection, which may be more politically correct. God love us.
