Good Night\'s Sleep?

What constitutes a good night's sleep for you?

I feel blessed if I sleep right through, perhaps half a dozen times a year.
Otherwise I would normally wake at 3.10 (don't know why, it's always been that in our last 3 homes) and about 4.30 and about 6 or so.

Mrs Lakesailor who complains of me snoring and keeping her awake always seems to be asleep at these times. She has recently injured her leg which is keeping her awake more than normal, but seems to think the world has ended.

What's normal for you?

Sleep onboard, never had a bad night yet, gently rocked to sleep after a few wets at the yacht club! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Re: Good Night\'s Sleep?

Agreed, best sleep I get is onboard. At home it depends on how much I drink /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Good Night\'s Sleep?

Well I can't survive on less than about 7hrs otherwise I get dead grumpy and if I have some late nights, I have to catch up on ziz somehow. I sleep like a log on the boat except when we're at anchor when the incessant slap slap of waves on the bow and worrying about the anchor dragging keep me awake
But it is certainly true that some peeps need less sleep than others so maybe your body is telling you that you don't need that much? SWMBO and I argue about our bedroom. She likes to sleep with the curtains open whereas I don't like any light to enter the room. She also snores but won't accept that she does /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Ditto

I once videoed her snoring.

Bad Idea. Don't do it.

Re: Good Night\'s Sleep?

Always sleep well,

I put it down to a clear conscience.

If I have to wake early I can usually waken at a specific time - don't know how it works, but it does.

Have had the same idea but not brave enough to do what you did. At least you gave me a good laugh!

Re: Good Night\'s Sleep?

Well I have to confess to recording her snoring with a dictaphone to be used in evidence against her but you think it's a bad idea? What happened after your video? Sanctions and reprisals I guess?
I've just invested in some earplugs. They have the beneficial side effect of genuinely being able to claim that you can't hear what she's rabbiting on about

Nice one, you should have posted it on you tube. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Re: Good Night\'s Sleep?

I'm exactly the same, never sleep through. I just thought that that was the way I was made and didn't need to have hours of deep sleep??

Terminal..... see a doctor..... No I'm healthy enough with the sleep I get /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif anyway I enjoy a little 5min walk around the estate in the early hours then back to bed for another sleep! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Agreed, especially when I know I have a 35lb CQR and 65 metres of Birmingham-made chain out.

Re: Good Night\'s Sleep?

Excuse Me.
Wrong Forum. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Well some have mentioned sleeping aboard so that's OK then?
What's normal? You ask.
Can't comment I'm afraid, don't Do Normal!
However Do suffer from LNPS occasionally.(You might have noticed)
Embarrasing sometimes but better than listening to SWMBO snoring. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
Yep have also been tempted to record said zzzzd's but technically lacking in that Dept.
Plus haven't got the B%lls!
Like I said Don't do Normal.
Haven't been to bed since Saturday!
But might go tonight about 20.00 and kip till 09.00.
I know, it's weird.
SWMBO told Me to go and see the Quack about it.
Told Her I'd sleep on it!
Tesco's do a good bottle of sleeping juice at £7.36.
Sometimes it works but then again it has been known to bring on bouts of LNPS too.
Maybe some have noticed?
Next door neighbour works shifts.
On Days He goes to bed at 21.30 and gets up at 08.00.
Nights is in bed at 10.00 and sleeps right through till 18.00 no problem!
I reckon that's weird too!

Re: Good Night\'s Sleep?

22:30 to 06:00 is good.

Waking at 03:30 means I've got something on my mind (very common)

I sleep much better than I used to since I lost most of my hearing /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

SWMBO is not deaf tho' /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Re: Good Night\'s Sleep?

If you wake regularly at the same exact time, it's worth setting an alarm for then - hopefully you'll wake before it....do that for a few days.

then gradually move the alarm time later - pointedly looking at the time set as you switch it on before bed - with any luck your mind will wake you at the later time too ( well, instead of eh ) yet still before the alarm goes off. By gradually, I don't mean 5mins, but say 30mins, so your mind knows it's a different time.

works for me when needed.

Re: Good Night\'s Sleep?

well, like I said you'd probably wake before it - set the alarm for 3.20 at first - if you wake regular at 3.10 there'll be no difficulty see? Do keep up.
