When most threads about boat buying seem a bit negative I have news from the guy who bought my clinker dinghy. I'm sure he won't mind me quoting some of it.

......just thought I'd let you know that I have taken the boat out on Poole Harbour for my first run, it was great, I loved it. She sailed exceptionally well. I had the Seagull serviced and it runs like a dream! A great day was had by all! Would just like to thank you once again. I cant belive how lucky I am to have such a lovely boat that is admired by all that see her.

Not only was he a genuine bloke who really wanted the boat, he also kept me informed. There's nothing worse than letting a loved project pass on to a new keeper and never hear anything again.

If you see it out on Poole Harbour give him a shout.

That's how it should be. Selling or buying a boat should get you a friend for life. Much more satisfying than for the dipsticks who are always trying to "put one over" on the buyer/seller.
