Good news - Deben entrance chartlet now available

Hmm, just enough. I am looking at the Ore this weekend and desperately hoping that the chartlet might be ready by Friday! I always thought that the Ore was the easier bar, although nav in the river is more challanging.

Looking at the chartlet, I can't imagine why he would be.

But I learnt to sail in The Wash! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

We went in and out of the Deben over Easter, trusting the previous year's chartlets. No problem, although the water seemed more turbulent around W Knoll than I remember it (about half tide). The depths were almost exactly as expected.

There is an up-to-date chartlet of the Ore entrance on the same site, too.

They are both gorgeous rivers, and if the entrances scare off the Solent-types, then all the more peace for us!

I would suggest you ask Morgana about the Ore entrance......

I KNOW he will guide you in at the lowest possible stage of the tide /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We got in OK didn't we?..... don't know what you are worrying about... we never had less than 10cm under the keel..... typically mobo-er..... constantly worryying about them bronze flower shaped things stuck underneath their hull....... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

a slight overestimate.

He meant 10mm.

And the look on his face suggested he had a cactus irritating his fundamental orifice throughout the entrance.

I have been aground twice on the Ore bar, once badly - it always looks more benign than the Deben, perhaps its just me.

I think the biggest troubles with the Ore bar is the timing for a Southbound passage. Depending on draft, one can be in for a long old slog.

I agree that the Deben bar is certainly much hairier prospect in certain conditions. I can just about get out at LWN, but one needs to hug that shingle beach very closely!

I suspect that loads of speed isn't an option with Saturdays forecast! I might do the old fashioned thing and anchor off at low water, do a bit of a dinghy survey and then go for it... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
