Pity there is not a dedicated forum for "good ideas" or "solutions that cost nowt" ...
But I saw something for the first time last weekend; a visiting 36'+ motorsailer had tied a 5 litre (old windscreenwasher) plastic container filled with fresh water on each of their mooring lines between the cleat and the shore;
- freshwater because it added to their "ration" when they left on extended trips
- noiseless when moored and more effective than "springs" and "rubbers"
It worked surprsingly well .. at the time we had a fair wind blowing and a few too many youngsters in their 14'-9.9hp racing about ... other boats were a rocking' an a rollin' an a jerkin' ... but not so much this one.
