Good diesel marine engineers in Poole

Hi,
Having had rather less than satisfactory service earlier this season (see Near sinking thread for details) I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good engineer in the Poole area? I have a Nanni diesel inboard and am looking for someone to go to with problems and possibly a service. Does anyone have any experience of Holes Bay Marine, Poole Marine Services or Mike Wills as they seems to do a lot of work at Cobbs Quay?

FWIW I have had BRILLIANT service from Mark and Mark at Seacraft Marine -they are great with all matters electrical and heaters

I have been based at Cobbs for approx 7 years now and have used both Holes Bay Marine and Mike Wills. Can highly recommend both HBM & MW for the regular service stuff, engines and legs etc. I currently use Mike Wills as being a regular customer I also get discount on other none service parts. I have also had very good service from MW on a couple of occasions when I have had stuff breakdown when still at the berth.
Dependent on what you are having done I would probably get a quote from both and then make your decision. Either way you wont go wrong.

I too have had very good service from Mike Wills.

Wouldnt go near holes bay, they told me I couldnt get Volvo filters for an emergency, I went into chandlers who told me of the filters stockist on site who had every filter you could ever want and they were only a hundred yards from Holes Bay who told me you coulnt get filters on site, thanks for that. The guys in the filter shop were very good to deal with.

Mike Wills

My experience with Mike Wills goes back many years, and the guy is 100%.

I will give you a specific example. Nine months ago Mike was doing a re-power, he called me and asked if I had any ZF gearboxes to suit. As it happened I had a pair of good second hand boxes of the correct ratio which were paid for and shipped.

Few months later the owner of the boat called to thank me for helping out, I was very cautious as I was not sure about the financials. As it turned out MW told the customer exactly how much he had paid me for the boxes and had not put a penny piece of margin on the price, just happy to complete the job to the total satisfaction of the customer.
