The best place to head for is obviously the South Coast preferably the Solent where you will find peace tranquility uncrowded harbours reasonably priced moorings etc etc .....

Seriously now it depends where in ireland. Ilfracombe or Milford haven are closest ports of call in the bristol Channel.

Bristol Channel. Awfull place. Crowded anchorages.

OK There is some mud here and there and the tides are large. You soon learn to go with the flow and cover lots of miles in a 6 hour sail.Plan with the tides dont try to fight them .

Of course ,not everyone is up to the challenge. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Absolutely right. For all you south coasters, don't even think about it...same goes for Padstow, the Gower and West Wales and all the other places we like to go (oops didn't mean to say that did I?)

Its ridiculously overcrowded in the Bristol channel , nowhere to go, and very expensive when you get there. Stay away is my advice. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

There is a bristol channel forum, down in the 'Forum member events' section - most of us bristol channel people hang around there... and sometimes post as well /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
