Hi I have a friend who owns a small wooden boat (about 17 ft). He has a birthday coming up, can anyone suggest a good repair/maintenance book which I can buy him. I would say his skills at the moment were average. I have a GRP boat so I am afraid classic boats is a dark art to me.

Regards

John

Hi John,
It's always hard to recommend for someone you dont know, but a book I've found interesting, useful and accessable, as well as a good read is "Wooden Boats - Restoration and Maintenance Manual" by John Scarlet. Pub. by David and Charles, of Newton Abbot in Devon. ISBN 0-7153-8077-X. It was first published in 1981, but was up to its fourth re-run in 1989.
I hope this is of some use.
