Good beaches etc to dry out ?

I am looking for suggestions for good beaches and other places that a lift keel 2'7" draft yacht can explore and dry out on the East coast. I will be based in Ipswich and plan day and weekend trips to start with.

The beaches are for my daughter to get her sandcastle fix, so con (vincing) her sailing is fun!

Perfect is Stone Point in the Backwaters... location of the Pirate weekend!....

Two options... firstly just inside the Twizzle, past the last red channel marker... shelves reasonably gradually, with a firm mud/sand bottom (2 boats there on Saturday this weekend), and the second, only for calmer sea conditions is outside the entrance to the Twizzle, on the sea facing portion of the beach, which is very gently shelving, and is firm sand... in fact a lovely beach, and a super place to dry out (at least 4 boats dried out there Sunday morning when we walked down that way)...

About 2 1/2 hrs sail from the Ipswich wet dock... and a good place for kids trips... lovely water to explore by tender, can form part of an indoctrination programme by adding in a reading session of Arthur Ransome's 'Secret Water' which is set there, and has abundant wildlife, including a resident seal who often pops up to see what you are doing, and my kids have christened 'Sammy'!

Seriously, I have dried out in a lot of places up and down the coast over the years.

Try a lot of different places up the Stour toward Mistley or even Manningtree.

Lots of West Mersea, round the back of Brightlingsea, Southend, Shoebury, Leigh On Sea.

Margate. Broadstairs. Pegwell Bay,

Lots up the Deben, Alde.

Sailed her up from Chichister this week - superb! great wind and weather. Now can't wait to get exploring.
