Doing DS this week...loving it!
Today: Newtown Creek, Yarmouth and Keyhaven. Love, love, LOVE Newtown...so peaceful and beautiful.(Paul (VP) was that your flybridge we saw moored up in there?) Keyhaven...not so much coz I got lost amongst the buoys! (Don't ask how the hell I managed that but the little pink buoy in the entrance I thought must surely be a lobster pot didn't help matters! lol).
Anyway...Chichester, Bembridge and Gunwharf tomorrow.
Will collate a few pics and a bit of a write up at the end of the week.

It was us, if you're talking about the mobo on the next mooring. Masquerade. Rest were all raggies. We thought you followed us from the Hamble, maybe for the comedy value after the rain hats. And no, dont you dare publish that video ;-)

Hi Lisa , err no I'm in Majorca , maybe someone has nicked steelaway , hope so it's insured for more than market £££ .

Good luck with d s it's easy , even easier on your own boat.
If your stuck on a question tell examiner you need the loo, have laptop and all your books in there and don't forget to lock the door!!!

I did mine with Mendez (unfortunately not Jon) I had a great time, the night exercise at speed was exhilarating.
I hope you have that little book "the skippers handbook" it has all the answers you need plus its very easy to hide on your person.
All in all a great confidence builder - enjoy.....hello to Fran too :)

.....and Gunwharf tomorrow.
:)
If going to Gunwharf don't forget to tell them you are training as you get a discount (well I did). Now I have to decide were to go on Saturday, Newton C & the dingy to the pub might be on. Was going to Cowes to cadge a drink off Spotty but he now nipping over to the Gaffers @ Yarmouth.

If you do go to Cowes this Saturday, you might be best off departing straight after lunch as its likely to get busier as the afternoon rolls on. ;);)

Sounds like a brilliant week, enjoy!!

It does indeed CA...it does indeed :D. Dead chuffed I am. I'm gonna do a write up with pics when I've got a bit of time to put it all in order in my head but what I can say right now tho is...it's boosted my confidence no end. Tbh, I ummed and ahhh'd about doing it thinking it might be a waste of money but MY GOD...I was so wrong! It has taught me so much and just drummed in a few things which really make the difference to my enjoyment of boating in general.
I now have a much better idea of how to get the best out of our boat simply thru understanding the 'mechanics' of it all.
In a nutshell...it has taken away that anxiety I always had just at the thought of taking her out and I no longer have that need to stick rigidly to what the plotter is telling me. I'll explain more what I mean in the write up but anyone who is thinking about doing it...just do it!! It's great fun as well as a great knowledge tool and coupled with the theory (have to finish that side of it)...I found it invaluable. There are loads of excellent instructors out there but I did mine thru Mendez Marine and well...I could sing their praises forever tbh! Superb instructors!
