So there's been hints and talk of the Golden Ocean Race on Facebook, a spin off from the GGR. Details to be announced on the 1st July so not long to wait.

In a internet forum/gossip/it's the weekend type of way, and for the kicks does anyone want to guess/speculate what it's all about?

I was hoping it may be a shorter, cheaper, less rule bound Atlantic race to prepare people for the GGR as the latest post says it's an adventure for all sailors but its slogan is "in the spirt of the 1973 Whitbread race" which makes me think it may be a "clipper" type race on bigger boats, especially as Don is in with RKJ.

I can but I thought it would be interesting to see what other people thought it may be?!

Fab, blue touch paper lit and burning brightly!

Can't wait for the ' it shouldn't be allowed its all too dangerous' flotilla being wound up by the '. I can do what I like you can't tell me anything' types.

Yay!

From what I can establish, the Golden Ocean Race is the French Translation for Golden Globe Race - translated back into English again.

From time to time, the question is raised 'Why do they do it?'

Here's one answer, straight from the horse's mouth....

2018 Golden Globe Race attracted $185m of publicity
