.....So Im sitting at my desk, only two of us in the office today- my boss has uttered (rather grunted) only two words today. Its driving me nuts. Ive only been working about 6 years, and already I am mentally broken!!! I need a total career change but hav'nt a clue what to do.

How on earth does anyone cope until retirement, which for my generation will probably be about 85? Please someone post a joke or give me some hope!!!!!

Do what I did, go work for yourself. Didn't want to was forced into it, still can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. Some git keeps turning the torch off.

Alan, you are a lucky, lucky man. I fell in love with BC the few times I went. Trouble is getting SWMBO to move from the UK. She has family ties here etc.

How long have you been there? do you get to Vancouver and the Rockies much?

I just told my boss to take the job and shove it. The greatest feeling in my life. After 5 years, I just couldn't bear the tought of spending another 30 years at that dreary desk.

So I started looking out for something different last May. Obviously, it took time, but I was in no hurry.

So come April, I'm in Ankara, Turkey, earning trice what I'm raking in now, with a much more interesting job description.

I can't understand people with burn out. I got so fed up with school that I told myself "the day I don't whistle while going to work, is the day I get myself a new job".

So go hunting!

Not so sure on this advice. Have been in bussines for last 18 years, not sure I would do it again.

Ahh I see it now Barry my apologies for not fully understanding, but it has been a long week. For a minute there I thought you meant self employement was a GOOD idea

Regards

Now here's a thought! Go and do boaty things! Since doing Powerboat Instructors course I spend a fair amount of time on the water and being paid for it. In fact this Monday and Tuesday I'll be doing a level 2 instruction in Poole beats working for a living /forums/images/icons/wink.gif. The other week, I flew to Jersey and crewed, bringing back a Sealine F33 to the Hamble - did'nt get paid for that one, but you can't win em all! I've now decided to do a VHF/DSC instructors course.

Wish I'd done it years ago and would have spent more time being paid to do something I love!!
