going sailing - need a hotel recommendation

We're off on our summer holiday on Saturday. With all the usual caveats, we intend to go Ramsgate, Oostende and then up to Middleburgh. Will meet you all at Queenborough on the return. While we are away we want to stay in a nice hotel for at least one night (could be 2 in different locations). Any recommendations?

We want to visit Bruges - would we be best to go from Oostende or Zebrugge? (by train, not boat)
 
Used to stay in Brugges for work and the following hotels are very comfortable and not a long stagger (hic):p from the square and many bars. Worth looking up the following as they are not 'your chain' type establishments:-

Hotel Biskajer
Hotel van Eyk
Hotel Navarra
and this one a little more of a walk, ( about 4 minutes more than the others) The Adornes.

There are of course many many others. Have a Leffe Brun for me.

Getting on for 2m. Never had a problem. How old is your pilot book? Last time we were there (summer 2009 - pre red diesel issues), we were told the dredger from Zeebrugge does the entrance each month to keep it clear. Nice town, plenty of food and other shops, bars, restaurants and a great market. Occasional live music in the summer. Several yacht clubs look after the various areas of the two basins. We've gebnerally used the VNZ moorings (to port in the basin straight ahead) with this boat due to them having a linear berth. The clubhouse, loos and showers are the other side of the road but always nice.

Connections to Bruges are very good from Ostend and Blankenberge (at least 1 train every 30 mins).
In Ostend, the station is pretty much right next to the marinas. In Blankenberge, it's about a mile to walk through the town centre.
As wingdiver, we never had any problems getting into Blankenberge. We draw 2.1m and always get in/out 3hrs either side of HW.
When there, we stay at the VNZ. Friendliest place in town and good facilities too.

Zeebrugge, it's quite a long walk to the station (2-3 miles). But you could catch the tram.
Off peak, I think there's one stop-train every hour.
Apart from the Russian sub and the Westhinder lightship there is very little to see/do in Zeebrugge.
Town is a bit of a dump too.
Harbour can be closed too because of cargo or military ships movements.
I would avoid it.

Good standard, and in the city centre.

PS: forgot to mention - the Blankenberge entrance is dredged every month April to September
