Lady Pheran and I have spent most of the past decade doing our boating in mainland Europe and living on board for five or six months at a time. And a glorious time it has been. But that is all at an end and we are coming back to good ol' Father Thames. Be afraid, be very afraid!

Anyway, a number of people have asked me about facilities in Holland so I thought I would post this very short video clip featuring our favorite brokers. Oh, if only UK brokers were like this

ps these brokers have sold our main boat but I still have another one for sale there. So if anyone is interested in a very nice 36ft steel cruiser................:):)

And the hall next door is very similar, except its at least 3 times the size. Thats where our boat spent its winters, cosseted up with a 100 others. Magic!

Went to look at several boats over there and found the brokers both very welcoming and very helpful, boats we looked at were also very clean and well presented.
Not that hard to get to either, a decent early start will get you to several yards and back to blighty the same day and the drive is not bad due to decent roads all the way.
Only problem was not paying attention and ending up at the entrance to some tunnel or other without any small change and having to pay 2 euros or something by credit card.
Engish is spoken by all of course including everyone we spoke to for directions and in service stations.

I watched the video but the speech was all Dutch to me ;)

What boat are you having here Chris? Where you going to moor?

Hi Byron

I've just bought a Haines 31 Sedan Coastal with a single 135hp Perkins Sabre. Ann's decided my sea-going days are over (for reasons I can't really argue against) but that boat will still allow me the quick trip round to Rochester or Ramsgate if I get the urge. Being delivered by road next week and will go to my mooring at Purley which we kept and let out while we were away.

Probably see you over the holiday weekend.
