I went out and took some quick pictures and a rather bad video of a certain forumites new boat today! Can't wait to get my hands on it tomorrow morning. MBM had their hands on it today.
Jez is there a prob with the rubbing strip? Seems to be U section and falling off on the port side between the 2 hull windows in first pic. Surely they should be using metal joint band with a smaller snap-in rubber extrusion? Come to think about it, did I ask you about this before ref some other pics on the forum, a couple of months ago (groundhog day feeling ere...!)
I did have a little contretant with a pile in Chi on that side, so maybe. The deck is Bolted, Glassed and joined with a smaller joine behind the large U shaped one. the rubbing strip is designed to be used as just that, a rubbing strip if you don't quite get your fenders right.
is Jez seven foot tall as he looks as if he is in a 21 footer /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
probably just the photo Im sure
Looks nice on flat water too! That's a seriously quick boat and he wasn't even trying. It's the only small boat I would want to take out in a 5-6, feels really sure footed! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Nice pics there David, I bet you'll love it tomorrow and it will take you back to your 'sprint' days only better, faster,stronger...

That looks great David - you should have got Jez to do some wake-crossing shots to launch the Westline and get her airbourne! Although MBM might want to be doing that for the mag!
Jez - good luck with these great looking boats. I am a particular fan of steelwork rather than GRP radar arches - so that works for me. She seems to carve a nice line through the water too!
Hi Dave - I was only using my little Pentax Optio so getting the long range wake shots were a bit tricky! It was not a planned shoot and in any case I don't want to usurp MBM's official test reports - undertaken incidentally by the son a rather well known hull designer who did/does a lot of work with Fairline - Olinsky or something like that. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
I'm out on it this morning so I may post my thoughts - as long as some don't start getting on their high horses about commercial posts!! Roger Rat reckons it will better than helming my Sprint - if it is then Yaaaaaaaa Hoooooooooo!
I'm still in withdrawal over not having "Solitaire" even with all the boating I now do. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Ah yes, my ol' mate Bernie /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif That should be good then!
I know what you mean re withdrawal and boats...CI is being hauled out next weekend for the whole of the winter until March. I am hoping to achieve two things 1) Lots of work that I can do myself and 2) Let the hull dry for a long period. What on earth will I do /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Maybe I can get another O/B for my Avon Redcrest /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
I watched the video right to the end expecting we'd see the boat launch itself across that wake and he wimped out /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif. Wassa matter? Was he afraid of breaking it?
I'm a big girly when it comes to driving boats - Solitaire has always said so /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
Plus, I am still getting used to a small boat that doesn't lam over every wave. My last small boat was from the US and while very nice, perfromed slightly differently.
That boat would be perfect for me, don't suppose you find many used being brokered in the UK.......... wonder if I could stretch my financing........ I can hear a 'don't even think about it!' from SWMBO already /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I saw the W24 on Sunday and was impressed. She is the same size as mine and scandanivian but a different beast. She is about agreesion, fun and speed with 'wind in your hair feeling'. Mine is more sedate and sensible with a comfort feeling! If you want fun and quality I would have a look at her in Southampton!
Nice pics there David, I bet you'll love it tomorrow and it will take you back to your 'sprint' days only better, faster,stronger...

Well, been and gone and done it! Took it out for a play this morning while on delivery up to the show. Niiiiiiiiiicccccccccccccccceeeeeeeeeeee boat /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.
Handled wash and wakes with ease and turned on a sixpence - mind you more than can be said for the importer! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif. Both Jon and I had a play and you should have seen his face!!! But the hull is superb and unlike some boats of a similar size I could mention the boat holds it's trim superbly - at 25 knots the boat rides flat and true with the explanation - "Look Ma, no hands!"
The interior is very nice with real wood and despite low headroom packs a lot of space. The cockpit is very comfortable and the helm and navigators seat do a good job of holding you in place. I normally prefer driving standing up, but this is not necessary and the seat position makes for comfortable "long" distance cruising.
I liked it a lot and I'll let the magazines expound it's virtues rather than take away their thunder.
A question was asked as to why Jez looked as if he was 7 foot tall - here is the answer (excuse the legs, they are his not mine!)
And she is on the show pontoon. Although we had to take the arch down to get it under the walkway bridges - that was fun!
