The Bobbin dinghy I'm restoring has a row of bolts on each side where wooden bilge keels have long rotted away. No big problem - I have some green oak which will make lovely replacements and the bolts are on order. However, what to use to seal the keels to the hull?
There is something ... irrevocable about Sikaflex. I don't like using silicone on GRP, so what alternatives are there? In Ye Olde Days I'd have used polysulfide, but I think that's unobtainable now. Would butyl tape work? There are four bolts along each 2'6" keel, so whataver I put on doesn't have to do all the work.
