glue for sticking aluminium to ply

Can only think of two part epoxy and apply then use a nylon pan scourer to Abrade the Ali with the glue in situ so it cannot oxidise

Yes epoxy is used for aircraft bonded repairs of ali skins and also for sticking to wood so should be ideal ali to wood. The secret as said with ali is to clean it well removing the oxidised layer and apply epoxy ASAP to cleaned surface. good luck olewill

You don't say what use the ali strips are to be put to, but I would imagine that shear loads would be the most likely to cause a failure of the glue joint. If possible, I would use a degree of mechanical support by routing out a shallow slot to glue them into.

All the above are good, but if I had to go and buy the epoxy specially but had a bit of Sikaflex already open and handy I'd use the Sikaflex!

I think I'd go & buy some Sikaflex, or a look-alike. It would be much better at absorbing any movement of the ally - whether from deformation or heat expansion - than epoxy.

I saw a program on TV where they showed a big passenger bus being built. The aluminium side panels were all bonded with a CT1 like material to the aluminium frame. No mechanical fasteners at all.

I have used this on our boat and beleive me there aint nothing stronger on the market.

Also their CT1 Sealant Adhesive is a lot better than Sikaflex and cheaper

I've said it before on this forum and I'll say it again "CT1". Been using it for five years now and I don't buy any other sealants or adhesives.
