In a tinker tramp, stainless plate has the presumably hypalon joining it to the ply come off again, last time was some thickened epoxy which lasted a while but is there anything which would do the job cheaper round the local DIY store? Looks don't matter, far too far gone for that :)

Up side is the set of sails which were donated to Tommy the Tinker are great, just had a lovely little sail, with wet feet

Really don't know the specifics but asking an adhesive to join a fabric of any sort to a stainless plate is pissing in the wind, the only way is to clamp it.

Tend to agree, but if anything’s going to do it it will be a serious two-part contact adhesive. Polymarine 2990, or the A262 sold by SealsDirect with its catalyst and primer. Apparently they stick hovercraft skirts on with it.

Epoxy feels too rigid to me.

Proper 2 part hypalon adhesive is a very effective contact adhesive.
I've stuck stainless steel with other contact adhesives before, for instance my Laser tiller has a bit of thin bent stainless to protect it from the traveller rope and block. That's been stuck on with Screwfix contact adhesive for 3 years now. But there's no big forces trying to peel it off.
Cyano superglue will stick stainless to plastics, the high viscosity type from Toadstation is quite useful.
The question is what sort of peel strength can you expect from it?
Half the problem is having enough area of glue and designing the patch to give the glue a reasonable chance of working.
