anyone know if Gludy has actually received cash from TC?
TV show did NOT say he had.
Just that an agreement was reached,
would have expected them to say and Mr Burgess has now received payment in full!

A punch line WOULD NOT EXPECT THE FERRET TO MISS.

does this mean he still has not been paid? or is this my paranoia showing

It really doesn't concern us, with respect. It's good enough to know that Gludy can tell us he has reached a settlement after months of desperately poor service. The guy needs a break, and it's surely up to him to tell us the details if/when he wants. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

and whatever he does say we can be almost certain it'll be restricted to comply with the agreement he's come to so I don't think we should push the point too much , suffice to say he is satisfied , or will be if the agreement goes according to plan

Gludy implied that the deal involved him taking back his previous boat (which Trader had taken in part exchange and which is still unsold) and reimbursement of his expenses - which I guess may or may not include compensation for 18 months of being fannied about. Presumably the £900-ish k included the agreed value of Drumbeat.

As the settlement almost certainly contained confidentiality and non-defamation clauses, I'm afraid we may never know the details but I think you can assume it's been sorted unless and until Gludy resurrects the Ocean Deep forum on his website. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

And there, I think we must leave it. Really none of our business. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Seems to have been very much "our business" for the last 12 months or so, courtesy of the great man himself.

I don't think it's unreasonable to want to know the final outcome given that "we've" been used as a pressure point for a year.

Anyway, I hope it works out for him.

Anyone able to post a video of the TV spot on line? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I must say that all of these gagging orders make me think the world really stinks...

What's wrong with freedom of speech or the truth...?

Thank you for your thoughts in your replies to my question.

1. With respect,I believe it is the forums business whether or not he has seen the cash.

2. I am puzzled, the agreement mentioned on the forum happened some weeks before Traders Open Day.

3. The TV slot still went ahead yesterday (tuesday) weeks later.

4. If all was well- then it would either have been cancelled or cash received would have been announced.

5. Drumbeat is still at traders yard, Gludy had said on the forum that he was going to have various jobs done to her to ensure she was correct for resale- i assume he would not have the work done at Traders yard.

6. Gludy may well have a gagging agreement - but surely NOT on successful completion of agreement.

7. This would NOT be in Traders interest - unless agreement was NOT completed.

8. It would be a very useful tool - if trader wanted to still stall.

9. Obviously the gagging agreement did not apply to TV only the Forum.

10.IF Gludy has been repaid then i do not believe that someone would not know.

In view of the above - there is only one conclusion for me - he has not yet been repaid

Oh dear what is the world coming to, you've agreed with me today and now it's my turn to reciprocate! Tyhe forum has been used as a major tool by Gludy, many of us were involved (at his request) so as a matter of courtesy we should be told in general terms what the outcome is.

Also there are people who were considering buying a trader who have been influenced by what Gludy has said/written, surely they also have a right to know the outcome?

If Gludy knew what he was doing (and I suspect that, fundamentally, he did, though he tackled it in a different style to my own) he will have written specific punitive clauses with timescales into the agreement, to ensure payment was not an issue. Of course, if Tarquin are verging on going bust, then the situation may be difficult.

In Paul's own words (at least those quoted on the Ferret link)
"Once I told them The Ferret would be reporting the story, things started to change. After a few exchanges we reached an honourable and open settlement. They're raising the finance to buy the boat back from me, and paying my out-of-pocket expenses over the last 18 months, which is over £100,000," he said.

If they have to raise finance to repay him, surely that will take time and whilst that is going on, he'll remain silent....at least I know I would!!

Hi all, I'm sure Paul will reveal all a.s.a.p but in the mean time PLEASE does anyone have a recording of the TV prog that Ferret put out this week. I would be very happy to pay whatever costs are associated with getting a copy!

I think it would be worth starting a new thread if you can upload it, there are a lot of non-Welsh forumites that would love to see it!
