Gloves

The decision has been made to invest in some gloves to replace the cheapo ones I bought a year ago, which seem to soak up water like a sponge and result in freezing cold fingers at this time of year. Not a subject I have paid a lot of attention to in the past so could some kind soul point me in the direction of a decent quality item of hand ware please, something that allows me to work on deck and at the helm without losing the feeling of touch, but keeps the water out and fingers warm would be nice

Blimey, first East Coast post in 2 days, I thought everyone had gorn orf somewhere

Dougie Gill have always done it for us, although we've recently re-outfitted the whole crew with a nice new range from Henri Lloyd. We don't bother trying to keep the water out, just get some that are hard wearing but keep your hands warm, usually neoprene with a leather palm. I prefer the ones with full length fingers except the thumb and first two finger ends are exposed so you can fiddle with stuff.

The only way I know to keep hands dry on a boat was a trick from our dinghy sailing days in the winter - woolly gloves and a pair of marigolds

Bit busy here so haven't had much time to post is my excuse
Now scheduled for twenty four hours of overtime this week so I'm going to be even more knackered but at least I'm working again, at last

I use Gill Helmsman gloves - might use them for skiing too

I have Seal Skinz mittens, they keep my hands dry, but are mittens with an internal thermal glove. Can be a bit awkward to get on if your hands are damp, but dry out fairly fast.

ive tried all sorts of gloves,my favourites are motorcycle gloves made by hein gerrick,they are called Pathans,the gloves are a hybrid between mittens and gloves,they have two fingers in each "pouch" and it keeps the hands warm
