Glonass, my new response to the what if brigade :)

I wasn't aware of this until today, but my phones support Glonass so now when people ask what I'd do if the GPS satellites were switched off I can confidently say that I'd probably just use Glonass through either my iPhone or new HTC. Glonass has full coverage so is just as good from what I can tell. There doesn't seem to be a way to choose and test both systems but seems a step in the right direction.

Hmmm having seen the performances I have today, I would not be too so sure :eek:... Always a good idea to have an alternative to satellite derived positions....
 
Quite agree. I'm in a bar, triangle of uncertainty getting smaller by the pint.

But what if it's not the bar I thought it was...?

Its when you see two of them and they are doing a merry dance around each other of significant proportions I do not like...

Particularly when I am know where near a bar :o
 
The circumstances in which GPS will be jammed or switched off are pretty much the same circumstances in which Glonass will be jammed or switched off.
In fact a GPS jammer is effective on Glonass too.
