Anybody have any experiences or comments of this unit - how well it works compared to its competitors etc
I don't have a cockpit arch to mount it on and don't think there's a suitable spot on the aft rail - boat is a Cyclades 43
Glomax propose mounting it on the cross trees so am wondering if anyone had done this and did they have any issues e.g. does the mainsail lie over it when downwind sailing etc..would also have to go up and down the mast if we ever needed to swap sim cards!
cheers

Never used the Glomex but we do simply use an iPhone as a wifi hotspot in the boat through the summer in Greece. 97% of the time the signal is such that the phone sitting on the chart table picks up a good enough signal to provide sufficient bandwidth for 2 people using the internet at the same time. On the odd occasion when it doesn’t get a good enough signal we hoist it up the signal halyard in a bag and that usually sorts it out. Cheap, cheerful and no climbing the mast to change a SIM card...

Thanks folks, found that other thread - lots of good info there.
Glomex is going into the 'nice-to-have' list for now!

€609! Cannot see the value when I can make a mobile hotspot with my phone. I have been more than 20 miles offshore between Italy and Croatia and had my phone pick up emails. So no need to this

I dont think Glomex is the right solution (for various reasons) but without doubt the usual use of an "ordinary" phone as a hotspot can be significantally improved upon if you you want to increase the range from a mast.
