Global Trade Partners, Inc - anybody any experience?

GTP is owned by a chap called Mark O,Carroll. I have spoken to Mark and indeed invited him onto this forum 2 or 3 years ago now to answer any and all questions put to him. To his credit he spent time here answering loads and i can tell you, he is a very personable chap.

At the time, there was a question mark of CE marking, VAT and import duties, all of which have been answered here on this forum meny times over - try a search.

Yes, the boats do look good, and yes, they are well cared for in that nice Florida sunshine. You will have to pay the VAT and some import duty, but the price quoted includes shipping, so it is indeed reasonable. Mark is always prepared to give reference customers if you are at all unsure.

I looked at this, but there are a few downsides with the boats available, obviously all to US spec so 110V electrics, achohol/meth cookers, direct raw water cooled engines, US spec trailers and lots of other small things. The prices look good but if you look around over here you can usualy negotiate asking prices down to similar levels especialy on petrol boats.

I have transported many boats for GTP from S'oton to Welsh ferry ports, what I have seen are qaulity boats in good condition. Be aware though that occasionally if the boat is on an American trailer it may have a different hitch on the trailer, if you are using a transport company no probs as we have them as part of the kit we use.
If you intend to pick up yourself it may be wise to enquire about ball hitch size, , they can be obtained very near to dock4 at a place called trailer house or Via Nigel at Boatloads in S'ton. GTP are a good crowd to deal with, very efficient!!

Julian

I can't see much wrong with American trailers all the ones I have moved have been in excellent condition just check the ball hitch size that's all. As for 110 v what is the problem?? Just fit a step down transformer, simple!! As for the cookers etc they work brilliantly and if your on the river you don't have any Gas to worry about for the Safety Cert. Pay the Vat and 1.7% import duty and you are still getting a boat at least 20% cheaper than the UK. Watch this space!!!!

I nearly purchased from them, and followed up three refrences Mark gave me. All had good service and were happy with their boats. In the end we purchased a UK boat beacuse of the question over CE Marking, and the possibility Customs may hold it back, but horses for courses really.
