Glastron sx195

Ahh,

A pre 2004 Spec Glastron is a about as basic and cheaply built as you get. In 2004 they gave the SX range a facelift and marginally inproved it. I had a 2000 175 SX....and it just fell apart in under 5 months. Every time after we used her we had to do running repairs to seats and trims. Hull was OK for a sportsboat but covers useless for UK and leaked (a lot). The carpet never dried and got mouldy, the seats had screws inside that after a big wave would hurt etc. Ok as lake boats but quality is poor. They are also difficult to sell as most people at that size will buy a binliner which is better quality.

If they are giving you full price for yours and want about £10k for the glastron I would consider it. Ebay price is £7.5-11k for the 195 SX pre 2004.

All IMHO as usual,

Spose so.....just seemed to defeat the object of a private sale to me /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif specially if you get stuck with a boat you didnt even want in the first place.

Kipper,

I PXed mine towards a decent boat.....a Chaparral from bluewater! Not the easiest boat to sell but at the right price it will go. Had a guy wanting to PX a 2005 SX 175 against mine. I offered him £8k,,,he wanted £12k...no deal!

Be realistic with price and it will go! Just carry a tub of stainless steel screws and bolts and associated screwdrivers and spanners. The third time out on mine from new on Windermere and the two supporting S/S arms of the windshield came loose!

Cheers

Paul

Cheers Paul its going to take a pasting in the Irish see then. I have had my last 2 Chaparrals from Bluwater so there is always that route but it would be better to sell it privately. I was thinking around 8k. It appears to have a 260hp V8 that might help it sell if i dont sink it first.

Cheers for the info anyway.
