Is a 1Amp glass fuse advertised as 240V ok to use on a boat or is a 1amp glass fuse advertised as 35v required.

Does the voltage rating matter?
Thanks in advance.

This question often comes up. When a fuse fuses ie it gets so hot with high current that the wire melts and the wire parts. As it parts it open the circuit. You can imagine with a very high voltage circuit the current might tend to arc across the gap and so continue producing a lot of heat until the gap gets big enough to break the arc or the whole fuse and holder melts.
So fuses have to have a highest voltage rating. For typical glass fuses this is 250vAC.
Obviously this scenario is not a concern ina 12v or 24v circuit so 250VAC rated fuse is fine. good luck olewill
