Like a lot of boats, mine has glass fibre mouldings inside. As these are rather old and grubby I have started to clean them. Started by using water and Cif today which seems to do the trick but takes a while to dry. Is there a better basic cleaner I could use and should I polish it afterwards? All the stuff in the chandlers seems to be formulated for cleaning hulls so I was thinking there might be something suitable in the domestic line which might also be cheaper. Your suggestions are appreciated.

Soapy water and own-brand "creme cleaner" (far cheaper than Cif) will clean it up. You ought to polish it afterwards to help keep it clean. Ordinary car polish will do.

A quick wipe down using white cotton rags and Acetone will half the time taken, then apply a polish.

Just make sure the cabin is well ventilated and the acetone is not left on any surface too long.

Good luck and fair winds. :)
