I have just bought a Westerly GK24 in the UK and I bought a trailer separately. I reckon she won't be higher than an arctic truck when she is on the trailer. I am going to transport her by road back to Ireland(and ferry obviously)! Just wondering what height to tell the ferry company?

We pulled an Impala from Ireland to UK a few years ago. The ferry co hsd a max of 6.5m length for the trailer. I told them the trailer was 6m, which was true, just the boat overhung the trailer by a couple of meters. Never mentioned height although it depends on the ferry co I guess. We went Dublin - Liverpool with Norse Merchant Ferries.

If it is like my boat on a trailler the mast is usually laid on top of the cabin actually slung from under the bow pulpit and on a stick above the stern rail with padding on the cabin roof. So you may have to find another location for the mast which will probably be the longest component. Without the mast the pullpit will possibly be the highest part when attached to the towing vehicle. good luck olewill

As one who is in the (Ferry) business I would think you should be OK with a GK 24, we carry a lot of bigger boats than that but on dedicated transporters. Please check the height, this is important. Don't worry about the overall length so much.
